The CUBAN WIVES – Documentary film by Alberto Antonio Dandolo
The Cuban Wives reveals the compelling and tragic story of “the Cuban Five“. Five intelligence agents who have been arrested in the United States since 1998. Their crime: an attempt to protect their country from the terrorist attacks of paramilitary organizations operating from Miami.
Facing impossibly unfair trials in Miami, for the first time in the history of the American justice system, a defendant – Gerardo Hernandez – has received two life sentences without any evidence against him. Engaging experts including José Pertierra – attorney representing Venezuela in the trial for the extradition of Luis Posada Carriles – and Gloria La Riva – Coordinator of the National Committee to Free the Cuban Five. They explore the Cuban Five case: Why are the Cuban Five in prison? What will be the future of Cuban-American relations?
Including intimate accounts from the wives of “Los Cinco”, The Cuban Wives reveals also a story of love and resistance for justice. In the intimacy of their homes, we share in the unbearable presence of the absence of their partners, and their daily battle to free them.
