Sexual entrapment a common tactic

Cuba’s communist-led intelligence services are aggressively recruiting leftist American academics and university professors as spies and influence agents, according to an internal FBI report published this week.

Cuban intelligence services “have perfected the work of placing agents, that includes aggressively targeting U.S. universities under the assumption that a percentage of students will eventually move on to positions within the U.S. government that can provide access to information of use to the [Cuban intelligence service],” the five-page unclassified FBI report says. It notes that the Cubans “devote a significant amount of resources to targeting and exploiting U.S. academia.”

“Academia has been and remains a key target of foreign intelligence services, including the [Cuban intelligence service],” the report concludes.

One recruitment method used by the Cubans is to appeal to American leftists’ ideology. “For instance, someone who is allied with communist or leftist ideology may assist the [Cuban intelligence service] because of his/her personal beliefs,” the FBI report, dated Sept. 2, said.

Others are offered lucrative business deals in Cuba in a future post-U.S. embargo environment, and are treated to extravagant, all-expense paid visits to the island.

Coercive tactics used by the Cubans include exploiting personal weaknesses and sexual entrapment, usually during visits to Cuba.

The Cubans “will actively exploit visitors to the island” and U.S. academics are targeted by a special department of the spy agency.

“This department is supported by all of the counterintelligence resources the government of Cuba can marshal on the island,” the report said. “Intelligence officers will come into contact with the academic travelers. They will stay in the same accommodations and participate in the activities arranged for the travelers. This clearly provides an opportunity to identify targets.”

In addition to collecting information and secrets, Cuban spies employ “influence operations,” the FBI said.

“The objective of these activities can range from portraying a specific image, usually positive, to attempting to sway policymakers into particular courses of action,” the report said.

Additionally, Cuban intelligence seeks to plant disinformation or propaganda through its influence agents, and can task recruits to actively disseminate the data. Once recruited, many of the agents are directed to entering fields that will provide greater information access in the future, mainly within the U.S. government and intelligence community.

  1. Amazing! The Washington Times newspaper article written by–and self-funded by–a private citizen patriot published full page, on June 28, 2000, in the Washington Times explicitly stated the fact that Cuba was a mayor risk factor to U.S. national security and it ALSO specifically explained, at great length and detail, how Cuban intelligence influenced the educational sector by targeting the “youth in High School and Universities”. Now, why is this matter NEWS–14 years later–after this private citizen patriot had stated this to be so 14 years ago. Unbelievebale!!!! Everything in that newspaper article exposed–then–was right on-point, yet, an unscrupulous “invisible hand” came after the private citizen patriot and writer of the newspaper article he self- funded and published and he got indicted by “special interests” while others took credit for his correct intelligence indications–outside the intelligence apparatus of the U.S. DIA. He specifical stated CUBA WAS A RISK FACTOR TO U.S. NATIONAL SECURITY while Ana Belén Montes WAS STILL the top policy adviser of the U.S. toward Cuba, while being a Cuban undercover spy. That newspaper article appeared two months prior to the DIA first getting involved in starting an investigation of an Undisclosed Subject (UNSUB), which later resulted with the capture of Ana Belén Montes. The indictment that was formulated against this private citizen patriot who exposed such vital information (that becomes news today 14 years later) was stylized under the same “modified name” (modified name being a different name than the actual private citizen patriot and writer´s real name) the name that appeared in the signature of his purposely “modified last name” as signed in the newspaper article, which the private citizen planted there as a “booby trap tracer” to be able to track the origin of any future possible aggression that would result against him because afterward the contract that became the subject of the indictment was not under the name of the same signature that appeared in the subject contract with the private citizen´s true name, instead, the indictement was made under the same “modified last name” that appeared (as planted by the private citizen patriot and writer) in the newspaper article´s signature. This is just sick! Ana Belén Montes read that newpaper article then and it must have thrown chills up and down her spine, knowing someone outside the U.S. intelligence apparatus was saying loud and clear in a full-page self-funded newspaper article, right in Washington DC–in the Washington Times–that CUBA WAS A RISK FACTOR TO U.S NATIONAL SECURITY, WHILE THE OFFCIAL REPORT OF THE U.S. INTELLIGENCE APPARATUS WHICH WAS GUIDED AND FALSELY MANIPULATED BY ANA BELÉN MONTES STATED THAT CUBA WAS NO LONGER A RISK TO U.S. NATIONAL SECURITY. Who was right; the private citizen patriot who exposed the fact Cuba was a risk factor for U.S. National Security for everyone to read in Washington DC or the oficial U.S. Intelligence apparatus that WRONGLY PUBLISHED THAT CUBA WAS NO LONGER A RISK FACTOR TO THE U.S? So, why all the fuzz today 14 years later when it was old news for this private citizen patriot outside the U.S, intelligence apparatus who invested his own money out of love for country and loyalty to expose the fact that Cuba was risk a mayor factor to the U.S.–while the intelligence apparatus reported the contrary then–and thereafter this person was paid in gratitude by being imprisoned as a result of a fabricated indictment by an invisible hand in the “Ivory tower of power”. Go figure it out, there´s a good reason why.

  2. I denounced this TWENTY-ONE years ago, in the essay “Academic Espionage” here

    Click to access FIU-espionage-1993.pdf

naming, among others, FIU professors Lisandro Perez and Marifeli Perez-Stable, who were later unmasked as spies by DGI defectors.
Read the Lisandro Perez letter at the end of the document, threatening to have an FIU attorney sue for slander, but never did.
Likewise, Perez-Stable had ACLU attorney John de Leon threaten to sue me for slander in 2007, but also failed to do so.

  3. Cuba is a threat the safety of the United States of America. The Cuban government is actively subverting the South Americans because they want to create by recruitment spy networks within the US.The Cuban communist Government is trying to culture the next generation similar to Ana Belen Montes to place in Key positions within the US Government.

  4. In my opinion Castro with the covert help of Russia is trying to destroy our society from within. They are creating a situation where our country will be fighting in different theater of operations conducting irregular and regular warfare at the same time and going from one situation to another in order to bankrupt our country and at the same time create an anti american coalition
in South America and the Caribbean.Putin’s expansionist policy has been rebuked by European governments and him with the help of the murderous dictator Castro will try to interrupt and create a hostile situation in the America’s to divert our attention from the European continent and at the same time to increase Russian influence in Latin America.
